East Africa (Coins)

The East African Monetary Union comprising the now independent states of Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania included also British Somaliland until the Republic of Somalia was set up in 1960. The coins issued between 1907 and 1919 have the inscription EAST AFRICA & UGANDA PROTECTORATES.

Monetary System

100 Cents = 1 Rupee (Florin);

since 1921: 100 Cents = 1 Shilling
