Tristan da Cunha (Coins)

Tristan da Cunha is midway between Africa, South America and Antarctica and 1,320 miles from St. Helena of which it became a dependency in 1938. It is a volcano (which last erupted in 1961) rising to the height of 6,760 feet above the Atlantic. To date, the circulated coinage is British. South African currency has also been used.

SILVER JUBILEE OF THE REIGN OF HER MAJESTY QUEEN ELIZABETH II. Obverse Queen Elizabeth II, bust facing right, dates 1952-1977. Rev. ocean liner in front of island. Pretty coin with hint of brandy over somewhat reflective deep satin with stronger brandy at rim edge. Marks are below average by there are a few tiny bag marks at rim bottom obverse.
